Sunshine Holidays is a private company offering quality supported holidays and travel options for adults with intellectual disabilities or acquired brain injury. We are based in Noosa Heads on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. We began our operation in 2001 as Sunshine Coast Supported Holidays and now conduct holiday programs throughout Australia and Overseas.
disability service provision
As a private service provider we do not access funding of any kind, be it donations or grants, and our service is essentially a user-pays system. We base our operation and quality framework on the standards set by the Australian Federal and State Government Disability Departments.
Whilst we are experienced recreation/tourism facilitators we consider ourselves first and foremost as Disability Service Providers. We take seriously our commitment to supporting adults in their quest for community inclusion and access to quality recreation. Our policies and operations are regularly reviewed and we have in place sound Risk Management procedures to ensure the best care and attention is provided to our holiday guests. Our holidays are operated in conjunction with our affiliated licensed travel agent. Holiday guests make their travel component payments to the travel agent.
holiday costs
The holiday cost is one of our greatest challenges in planning holiday programs as affordability is perhaps the most important aspect of a holiday for many of our guests. Our holiday facilitators (our staff) are skilled, experienced and qualified people who we reward well financially for the challenges they are expected to excel at in assisting our guests to enjoy a positive holiday experience. Our holiday costs are thus a reflection upon the quality of our facilitators and the excellent recreation opportunities we provide for our guests. We maintain this level of quality by operating efficient and well planned holidays, with a lean administration, thereby keeping our costs as affordable as possible.
holiday focus
We do not lose sight of the main aspect of a holiday for our guests and that is TO HAVE FUN! Our guests want to do all the things on holiday they don't have the opportunity to do regularly at home; that is, to go out during the day and at night, to enjoy different food, to sleep in, relax, make new friends, see new places and sights and to be pampered.
The break from routine and work is as vital and beneficial
for people with disabilities as it is for everyone in our community – it's healthy to have a holiday!
Holidays are run in small groups, with the exception of our Noosa Christmas which is a huge and very social party holiday. Accommodation is selected for its suitability for our guests and we mostly utilize 3-4 star resorts. Bedroom arrangements are twin-share. Transport on holidays is by mini-bus or coach. In essence, WE DO WHAT WE DO DO WELL.
Our motto: HOLIDAYS OF THE LUXURIOUS KIND!
